Deportivo Alavés has made a decision with Jesús Owono. The Equatoguinean goalkeeper has been left behind by Adrián Rodríguez in the fight to accompany Antonio Sivera this season and the club is opening the door to a departure before the market closes. The most evident signal arrived on Saturday, when Owono was left out of the squad for the league opener against Getafe, with Sivera and Adrián as the only goalkeepers called up.
The resolution concludes a summer in which Quique Sánchez Flores had to choose between the two goalkeepers who returned from loan. Owono returned after playing in FC Andorra, while Adrián did so after his stint in Zaragoza. The first one maintains a contract with Alavés until June 2029, so the priority is to find a deal that allows the club to keep value on the player.
Andorra had already shown interest in incorporating him, while Mallorca and several Italian teams also asked about his situation during the summer. His departure is gaining strength.
Currently, Alavés is in 1st position in the League, with 3 points and a streak of 1 win, 0 draws and 0 losses in 1 game. In terms of goals, they have scored 3 and received 0, giving them a +3 goal difference. Their next fixture is against Getafe on February 28, 2027.
Player Lucas Boyé is currently injured.
