Deportivo Alavés and midfielder Jon Guridi have decided to part ways, once his contract with the club has expired. The Azpeitia-born player has ended a four-season stint with the Glorioso, during which he played 148 official matches and became a key player in the team. He had a low-key renewal offer for two seasons but has chosen to leave the club. During his time in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Guridi was one of the protagonists of the historic promotion to La Liga in the 2022/23 season, contributing to the team's return to the top division with his work, commitment, and performance. This past season, he lost prominence with Chacho Coudet but Quique Sánchez Flores gave him space and he became a key player in the team's survival in Oviedo. The official statement is one of gratitude for the work done during these seasons. "Deportivo Alavés wants to thank Jon Guridi for his professionalism and dedication during these years, as well as the commitment he has shown at all times with the club, his teammates, and the fans. The entity wishes him the best of luck in his future personal and professional challenges", comments the statement made public this morning. The club may confirm the renewal of Carlos Protesoni and the transfer of Finnish central defender Ville Koski.
