Alaves' coach, Quique Sánchez Flores, has talked about the team's preseason, Lucas Boyé's status and the importance of starting well in the competition. In an interview, the coach highlighted the importance of maintaining the group stable and the continuity in the squad. 'I'm happy because we've maintained the group during a long time of the preseason', he said. 'I think that's very important, that teams are able to maintain their groups to give continuity'.
The preseason of Alaves has been rich in experiences and has allowed the players to progress and improve. 'We've had time for several things', said Quique. 'We've recovered players who last season were in a worse level. I think there are players who live in a better level than last season'.
The coach also talked about the tactical evolution of the team and the importance of starting well the competition. 'We want to start all well', he said. 'We know that there are a series of results that imply finding yourself better or worse for the next match'.
Regarding Lucas Boyé, the coach said that the player is responding well and that his status is positive. 'We're waiting until tomorrow for the call-up', he said. 'We'll wait until the last day to know who's available and we won't rush'.
Alaves starts the season in the 17th position of the championship, with 33 points and a goal difference of -11. Their next match is against Getafe, on February 28, 2027.
