Deportivo Alavés will play the III Nando Yosu Trophy against Racing Santander on August 7. The match, scheduled for 19:30 at Campos de Sport, will serve as the final pre-season test before Alavés' LaLiga EA Sports opener.

The fixture honours Fernando Trío Zabala, a former player, coach and technical secretary for Racing, on the tenth anniversary of his passing. Trío Zabala managed Racing's first team at Mendizorroza between 1985 and 1986. His son, Nando Yosu, once captured the family's bond with the club, saying: "No es que haya dedicado mi vida al Racing, es que mi vida es el Racing".

In the tournament's inaugural edition in July 2024 at El Sardinero, Alavés won on penalties after a goalless draw. The Vitoria-based side heads into this friendly on the back of a strong start to the competitive season, sitting fourth in La Liga with 10 points from six games. Their recent form shows an average of 1.67 points per game, and the team has kept a clean sheet for 270 consecutive minutes. Their next league fixture is a trip to ninth-placed Athletic Club on September 19. Fans can check the full schedule on our fixtures page and the squad status on injuries.
